Permissions

Which Profiles have access to and can work with the custom object.

The purpose of object permissions is to set and enforce what PerfectMind users can do.  You may want to control what users do by their department, whether they are managers or employees, can they add or delete information, all of the above, etc.  For example, a sales representative can create a new customer account, they can enter and edit the information in customer accounts, but they are not allowed to delete any customer accounts.

Permissions are required to work with custom objects.

A PerfectMind user with administrative permissions in the Profile Permissions is required to grant permissions for objects.

Permissions work by the profile that the user belongs to.  Normally users (people with their own login to the application) belong to a profile.  A profile is simply a set of permissions that get applied to all it's members.  Once a profile is set up, users can be added or removed without having to setup permissions for every user on their own.  Note:  A person can have more than one profile, but they would have to have more than one user login, so they would have to log in as a different user to use a different profile.

If there is more than one location or region, then each location and/or region could have it's own user profiles.  In that case you have to select a location or region, then grant the profile permissions.  If you want the object to be visible in more than one location or region, keep selecting different locations and grant permissions for each location where the users need access to the object.

Set Profile Permissions for an Object

  1. Select a region or location from the drop down list.

  2. In the list of user profiles that appear for that region or location, select the permissions for the profiles.

  3. The basic permissions are:

  4. If the object must be used by other regions and locations, select the next region or location and set the permissions for those profiles (repeat 1. and 2. above).

  5. When finished click Save.
